June 29, 2026 Bjorklund will become an unrestricted free agent Wednesday after he didn't receive a qualifying offer from the Capitals. - Bjorklund spent the majority of his time in 2025-26 with AHL Hershey, where he went 5-9-3 with a 3.72 GAA and .876 save percentage across 17 regular-season appearances. He'll attempt to seek out other opportunities ahead of the 2026-27 season. None
Feb. 23, 2026 Bjorklund was loaned to AHL Hershey on Monday. - Washington activated Charlie Lindgren (lower body) from injured reserve in a corresponding move. Bjorklund has posted a 4-5-3 record with a 3.47 GAA and an .881 save percentage in 12 AHL appearances this season. He has also gone 4-2-0 with a 2.37 GAA and a .929 save percentage in seven outings for ECHL South Carolina during the 2025-26 campaign. None
Feb. 10, 2026 Bjorklund was recalled from AHL Hershey on Tuesday. - Clay Stevenson was loaned to Hershey in a corresponding transaction. Bjorklund is now the No. 2 goaltender on Washington's roster behind Logan Thompson, as Charlie Lindgren is currently on injured reserve due to a lower-body injury. The 23-year-old Bjorklund has yet to appear in an NHL game. None
Feb. 5, 2026 Bjorklund was sent down to AHL Hershey on Thursday, Sammi Silber of The Hockey News reports. - The Capitals activated Logan Thompson (upper body) from injured reserve in a corresponding move. Bjorklund was the backup goaltender in all three games since his recall Jan. 31. He was 4-5-2 with a 3.43 GAA and an .879 save percentage across 11 AHL appearances before his recall. None
Jan. 31, 2026 Bjorklund was recalled from AHL Hershey on Saturday. - Washington placed Charlie Lindgren (lower body) on injured reserve in a corresponding move. With Logan Thompson (upper body) also dealing with an injury, Bjorklund or Clay Stevenson could start Saturday's home game against Carolina. None
Dec. 13, 2025 Bjorklund was reassigned to AHL Hershey on Saturday, per Sammi Silber of The Hockey News. - Bjorklund hasn't made his NHL debut yet after being the backup goalie behind Logan Thompson in Thursday's 3-2 shootout loss to Carolina. The 23-year-old Bjorklund has a 3.01 GAA and an .895 save percentage in nine outings with Hershey this season. Charlie Lindgren (upper body) was activated off injured reserve in a corresponding move. None
Dec. 8, 2025 Bjorklund was recalled from AHL Hershey on Monday. - Bjorklund will likely be a stand-in for Clay Stevenson, who was sent down in a corresponding move and will likely suit up for AHL Hershey on Wednesday. Still, it will be some valuable practice time at the NHL level for the 23-year-old Bjorklund. With the Bears this season, Bjorklund is 4-4-1 with an .895 save percentage and one shutout in nine appearances. None
Nov. 1, 2025 Bjorklund posted a 25-save shutout in AHL Hershey's 2-0 win over Providence on Saturday. - Bjorklund earned his first AHL shutout in just his sixth game at the level. He's allowed just seven goals on 101 shots to begin 2025-26, going 3-0-1 in four contests. Clay Stevenson is the presumed starter for Hershey and the first in line for a call-up should the Capitals need one, but Bjorklund is just 23 years old and looks to be developing into a decent prospect in his own right. None
June 2, 2025 Bjorklund signed a one-year, two-way contract with Washington on Monday. - Bjorklund posted a 21-4-3 record with a 2.02 GAA and a .927 save percentage in 29 regular-season appearances with ECHL South Carolina in 2024-25. He also went 2-0-0 with a 1.49 GAA and a .942 save percentage in two outings with AHL Hershey during the 2024-25 regular season. The 23-year-old netminder doesn't have any NHL experience yet, and he'll likely spend most of the 2025-26 campaign in the minors. None
April 29, 2022 Bjorklund signed a three-year, entry level contract with the Capitals on Friday. - Washington's still searching for a franchise goalie, as Ilya Samsonov doesn't appear capable of claiming that mantle. Perhaps Bjorklund -- whom the Capitals selected in the sixth round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft -- could become that guy eventually, but the 19-year-old netminder will need some seasoning in the AHL first. None
