Nov. 9, 2017 Shipachyov is headed back to Russia after working out an agreement with the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday. Golden Knights general manager George McPhee announced that the sides mutually agreed to place Shipachyov on the NHL voluntary retirement list, which will allow him to return to play in Russia's Kontinental Hockey League. The 30-year-old Shipachyov made history due to the deal, becoming the first player to retire as a member of the expansion Golden Knights.
Oct. 30, 2017 Shipachyov is headed back to Russia after working out an agreement with the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday. Golden Knights general manager George McPhee announced that the sides mutually agreed to place Shipachyov on the NHL voluntary retirement list, which will allow him to return to play in Russia's Kontinental Hockey League. The 30-year-old Russian center was suspended without pay by the team after he left the Chicago Wolves prior to a game with Milwaukee on Oct. 28 and reportedly returned to Las Vegas. However, he did not have the team's permission to do so, unlike the first time on Oct. 3 when he was allowed to report, then return to Las Vegas and work out on his own.
Oct. 29, 2017 Vegas Golden Knights center Vadim Shipachyov was suspended for leaving the team's American Hockey League affiliate, Sportsnet reported on Sunday. Shipachyov had been assigned to Chicago of the AHL last week, but did not play for the Wolves in their 2-1 win over Milwaukee on Saturday. The Golden Knights had given Shipachyov's representatives permission to seek a trade, Sportsnet reported last week.
Oct. 16, 2017 Shipachyov scored a goal in his NHL debut, a 3-1 win over the Boston Bruins on Sunday. Earlier last week, there were rumors swirling that Shipachyov was unhappy with his situation in the AHL and wanted to find a way to return to te KHL if given an opportunity. Perhaps a crack at the NHL level will keep him satisfied.
