Date News Advice
Nov. 29, 2015 Schultz was drilled by Dylan McIlrath and missed the remainder of Saturday's game with an upper-body injury. Schultz practiced Monday but missed Tuesday's game.
Feb. 18, 2015 The Philadelphia Flyers have signed defenseman Nick Schultz to a multi-year contract extension. Terms were undisclosed. Schultz has two goals and 13 points in 55 games for the Flyers this season. He has already recorded his highest point total in a season since 2010-11, when he had 17 points.
Jan. 30, 2015 Schultz snapped a tie game in the second period with his first goal of the season Thursday, ending a 125-game drought. The 13-year veteran has developed into perhaps the steadiest defenseman on the Flyers, and his 28th career goal in 948 games was a reward for his grit on the ice.
Jan. 20, 2015 Schultz has an upper-body injury. Schultz figures to return after the All-Star break.
March 5, 2014 The Columbus Blue Jackets, in dire need of immediate help on the blue line, have traded a fifth-round draft pick to the Edmonton Oilers for veteran defenseman Nick Schultz. The 31-year-old Schultz has no goals and four assists in 60 games this season, his third with the Oilers after spending most of his 13-year career in Minnesota. Two of the Blue Jackets' top defensemen are sidelined. Fedor Tyutin injured an ankle while playing for Russia in the Olympics and is out for another week or two and prized rookie Ryan Murray (lower body) is day to day.
Feb. 27, 2012 The Minnesota Wild has traded its longest-tenured player, defenseman Nick Schultz, to the Edmonton Oilers for defenseman Tom Gilbert. The deal was done on Monday, hours before the NHL's trading deadline. Schultz scored his first goal of the season on Sunday in the Wild's 4-3 win over the San Jose Sharks, but he's a stay-at-home player and the Wild have been searching for more offense from the blue line. The franchise's all-time leader with 743 games played, Schultz has appeared in at least 79 games in each of the last six seasons and played in all 62 this season.
