Gustavsson was a passable backup netminder for the Bruins last season, compiling an 11-9-1 record with a 2.72 GAA and .908 save percentage over 24 appearances. The 31-year-old goaltender will have a similar role with the Oilers in 2016-17, appearing in 20 to 25 games while playing second fiddle to starting netminder Cam Talbot. |

The Bruins were shutout by Frederik Andersen, but Gustavsson didn't really do much to help out his team's cause. The backup drops to 11-6-1 on the season with a .913 save percentage. He's been up-and-down in his starts this year and doesn't see much action behind workhorse starter Tuukka Rask. With the Bruins set to play a back-to-back set starting Friday, it's not a big surprise that the netminders will split the duties. Gustavsson played well in his last start Jan. 8 against the Devils, and will look to build off of that Friday against a Sabres squad that's worst in the league in scoring at home this season, averaging just 1.96 goals per game. |
Gustavsson, who backstopped the Bruins' last win -- a 4-1 decision over New Jersey on Jan. 8 -- is thus on track to square off against Buffalo's Robin Lehner on Friday, while we'd expect Tuukka Rask to draw the start in net for Boston on Saturday against the Maple Leafs. |

Gustavsson was fantastic in what was just his 13th appearance of the season and second since Dec. 27. He's a distant backup to starter Tuukka Rask, but Rask has struggled lately with five straight losses so Friday's gem could conceivably open the door for Gustavsson to get a couple more starting nods in the coming games. Boston plays again Saturday against Toronto, so Rask will probably get the call given the back-to-back scenario, but it's worth keeping tabs on the Bruins' crease going forward. |

With the Bruins set to play a back-to-back set Friday, it's not a big surprise that the netminders will split the duties. |
