July 2, 2014 The New York Rangers have agreed to a contract with forward Chris Bourque, son of Hockey Hall of Famer Ray Bourque. The Rangers made the move Wednesday on the second day of NHL free agency. The 28-year-old Bourque played in Russia and Switzerland last season. Bourque has two career goals and eight points in 51 NHL games over parts of four seasons with Boston, Pittsburgh and Washington. He scored a goal and had three assists in 18 games during the 2012-13 for his hometown Bruins, his father's former team.

Bourque is the 26-year-old son of Ray Bourque, the Hall of Fame defenseman who spent 21 seasons with the Bruins. The deal was announced by Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli on Saturday. Bourque appeared in 73 games for Hershey of the AHL, and scored 27 goals. He was drafted 33rd overall by the Capitals in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. In 2009-10, Bourque appeared in 20 games for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Bourque returns to the Capitals organization after spending last season splitting time between leagues in Switzerland and Russia. The 25-year-old son of Hall of Fame defenseman Ray Bourque has played in 33 career NHL games, including 20 when he spent part of the 2009-10 season with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
