Trades Help
Trades are very easy to perform. Simply click the name of the player on your team you wish to trade to another team and then choose the player you'd like to trade for from the player list. The player list has many useful items to help you make your decision
To:, From:, Asterisks, Confirming Deals - Below is an example of a simple deal - if team Jim traded Mogilny to team Alex for Fedorov, this is what you would see. The green asterisks indicate the deal is confirmed - meaning that Alex has reciprocated the trade to Jim. Until trades are confirmed by reciprocation the asterisks remain red in color. Your pool administrator will likely ignore any trades that are not confirmed!

Multi-way Deals / Transactions - Below is an example of a 3 way deal - team Jim wanted Lemieux, but team Jane wanted Jagr who was owned by team Alex. So Jim gave Mogilny to Alex convincing Alex to give Jagr to Jane, then Jane gave Lemieux to Jim. It looks complicated, but each team only has to enter their part of the deal in very simple terms. Here's the trick - for Jim to enter this deal into his team, he simply traded Mogilny for Lemieux, then clicked the To: Jane line (exposing a dropdown list of teams), and changed it to say To: Alex instead - done! The From: line automatically appears for multi-way deals and the Transactions line shows how many transactions are involved in the entire trade

Un-drafting a Player - You can un-draft a player and leave the slot open on your team by simply trading him for the [Nobody] option in the trade list. You can also trade a player to another team for nothing in return but "future considerations" - simply choose to trade him for [Nobody] first, then click the To: Undrafted line to expose a dropdown list of teams, and choose the team he should go to for future considerations, in this case team To: Jane.

Multi-player Trades - You can easily trade multiple players for multiple players, even if the trades are not for the same number of players - for example trading 3 players for 2 players. If you are trading 3 players and getting only 2 back, you can simply trade the third player for the [Nobody] option and then click the To: Undrafted line send him to the proper team.

Choosing Undrafted Players, and Duplicates - as you view the player list, you will see many players that have no current owner - these are undrafted players. If there is no Pending Trade To team, then you can grab the player - when you save the trade (with the Save Trades button) the date and time will be permanently recorded - this is important because if someone else chooses him, your trade will be successful as the earlier trade. Both trades will show a d* (d = duplicate) but the successful team will show d* in green, the unsuccessful team will show d* in red. Your pool administrator will likely ignore the unsuccessful duplicate trade. If you want to know who drafted the duplicate player first, click the red d* - it will you which team won, and when they performed the winning transaction.
Choosing soon-to-be Undrafted Players - as you view the trade list, you may see some players whose Pending Trade To column says Undrafted - this means that theoretically this player is up for grabs. However, you still have to ask the current owner if you can have the player, because they have to confirm the trade by specifically trading that player to you. This is often where "future considerations" come into play - they may well trade it to you with no specific deal, but at some point in the future they may want the favor returned.
Assigning Custom Positions to your Trades - There are rare cases where you may want to choose an undrafted player, but assign him a custom position - for example the player may be listed as a fwd or def, but you want to pick him as an enf or rook (enforcer or rookie). This situation will only arise with undrafted players because if the player is already in your pool as an enforcer or rookie, you will be able to choose him as such from his current owner. If this rare situation arises, ask your pool administrator to enter the player you want into your pool using the desired custom position - then you can choose him as such. Your pool administrator can make up a new team in your pool to carry these players in their new positions, and once the trading period is over, the team can be removed.
