Sept. 18, 2015 McCormick is out indefinitely after he failed his physical. McCormick, a 10-year NHL veteran, has not played since a blood clot was discovered in his left leg in January 2015.
Jan. 11, 2015 McCormick will likely miss the rest of this season after being treated for a blood clot in his leg. "It looks like he's out for the year," coach Ted Nolan told the Buffalo Sabres' official website on Jan. 19. "There's nothing official, but that was one of the remarks I heard right at the beginning when he was in the hospital. So right now, I'm not banking on him coming back." McCormick had scored his first goal of the season in a 2-1 loss in Tampa Bay on Jan. 9 before going on injured reserve.

March 5, 2014 The Buffalo Sabres have traded forwards Matt Moulson and Cody McCormick to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for forward Torrey Mitchell.¶ The Sabres also acquired a pair of second-round draft picks in a deal made just before the NHL's trade deadline hit Wednesday. McCormick was a fourth-line role player during his four seasons in Buffalo. He has split this season between Buffalo and AHL Rochester, and has one goal and five points in 29 games with the Sabres.
