COMMON CURES TO COMMON PROBLEMS

Can't log in? Click here to see if you can get into the guest (demo) pool. If you can, your problem is probably a firewall, adstopper, or popupstopper - I have made a special login page to bypass these evil devices, click here to use and bookmark it. That will solve the problem at least temporarily. Unfortunately your firewall, adstopper, or popupstopper will block other important functions on officepools (like reports and printing) as well as on other internet pages, so it might pay to read the rest of this help section. Once you get into your pool, click the Reports tab in the guest pool and see if you still have a problem!

The most common cause of login problems by far are firewalls, ad-stoppers, and popup-stoppers - they block the opening of new windows without knowing if that window is an advertisement or a legitimate page function, moreover they often don't tell you they blocked a window or give you an option! These products can include adstoppers like adsheild, popup-stoppers such as Google toolbar or MSN Messenger toolbar, or personal firewalls like Zonealarm or especially Norton Firewall. If you have such software - most firewalls, adstoppers, and popupstoppers have configuration options to allow certain sites to proceed without interference, so you'd have to enter www.officepools.com into their allow configuration section. Some of them have special keys you can hold down to disable them temporarily - like the "control" (Ctrl) key (so for example you'd hold down the Ctrl key while clicking the Login button with your mouse).

If you have Norton personal firewall, it can block access even when disabled (I'm told). Below is an exact email I received from a Norton user that had tried just about everything with Norton, and finally got in ===>

I went to the Norton site and searched for javascript. Previously, people had told me to disable Norton Firewall - I did - officepools still wouldn't load. I was also told to clear my internet cache via control panel, with my browser closed - I did - that didn't work. Finally, after a search for 'javascript' on the Norton site, I got the answer - FIRST, disable Norton Personal Firewall. SECOND, while it's disabled, clear internet cache** from the control panel. After doing this, I was able to log in with no problem!! ** see Advanced Cures to Login Problems below for exact instructions on how to clear your internet cache

Sometimes clearing your browser's cache files can help (cache files are copies of internet pages kept on your disk so they don't have to be fetched from the internet on every visit). How to clear your cache/temporary files differs with each browser - but if you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5 or newer, at the top of this window click your Tools => Internet Options => General (tab) => Delete Files (button) => Delete all offline content (checkbox) => OK (button). Then try logging in again.
