Making Trades

How to make trades: Only the pool administrator can process trades. Click here for step by step pictures - it's easy!

Letting your poolies type in their own trades: If your pool makes many ongoing trades, you may want your poolies to type in their own trades - click here for step by step pictures - it's easy to configure and use! If poolies type in their own trades, the pool administrator can easily apply them with single mouse clicks.

How points are allocated for trades: When you trade out a player, you keep his points up to and including yesterday's games, and start collecting new points for the newly traded-in player starting on today's games (it's ok if today's games are in progress or even completed - the nightly stats are not applied until 11:30pm PST). See the example below =>

Click the Td+ tab in your pool's guest login to see trade history. In this example, for pick #4 the poolie initially picked Crosby at the start of the season and held him until Nov 15 during which time he acquired 7g 17a = 24p. From Nov 16 to Dec 18 he had Ovechkin who collected 10 goals (started at 12g, ended at 22g) and 11 assists (started at 10a ended at 21a) for a total of 21 points. From Dec 19 to Jan 16 Lecavalier got 11g and 11a for 22p.

When to make trades: You can make trades any time until 11:30pm PST (when officepools shuts down for the night) - all trades will be in effect on for games of that night, even if games are already in progress or complete (since the stats aren't applied until 11:30). So if it's Jan 15 and you want all traded-in players to start collecting points on games of Jan 15, you have all day Jan 15 to make the trades - until 11:30pm PST Jan 15.

Time Travel: If you miss a trade date, you can time travel back in time to make the trades "as of" the missed date - just login to your administrator screen and click the Reconfigure button, and change the Pool End Date to the day before the new player(s) are to play and collect points for the first time. Yes, the day before!!! For example, if the "traded in" player is to start collecting points on the games of  Nov 11, time travel to Nov 10 - this way the traded-in player keeps the points to Nov 10, the traded-in player starts collecting on Nov 11. Every time you log into your pool in Time Travel mode, the administrator screen will show exactly what your dates are and when points will take effect - read it and you'll have no possibility of making a mistake!

If you Really Mess up a Trade: Don't worry, you can fix it - you can re-enter any player's entire trade history from the first day of the season - just perform the following steps [1] Re-enter the original player chosen (at the start of the season) OUTSIDE TRADE MODE - in other words, don't click the Trades button - this will erase the entire trade history. [2] Click the Reconfigure button to Time Travel to each subsequent trade date as described above in the Time Travel paragraph. Each time you log in the effective dates will be displayed on the right side of the administrator screen - check them and you can't go wrong!

Adjusting Points to accommodate Stats Errors: If you feel there is a stats error on the player being traded out (very rare) and therefore the traded-in player is starting his term with incorrect points, you can adjust the traded-out player's points to fix the error and thereby start the traded-in player off on the right foot. The reason you have to do this is that if the traded-in player starts at the wrong point total, he will be "out" those points forever. This is the only case where a reconciliation won't correct the points, because the traded-out player is "out" and can no longer be reconciled - the traded-in player, however, will be reconciled automatically from his starting date forward so you won't have to worry about it again. So - to adjust any traded player's points, login to your administrator screen and move your cursor to the player in question - on the right side of the administrator screen, click the text that says To make a manual adjustment to this player's points, click here (if a manual adjustment line doesn't appear as below, click into another player and then come back to the traded player to force a screen update). Once you've done a manual adjustment, the trade history (Td+ tab in the guest login) will show a manual adjustment line

Printing complete Trade History: PROTECT YOUR POOL'S DATA! You should regularly print your entire pool's trade history, just in case you mess up a trade in the future and thereby lose the entire trade history. To print your entire pool's trade history, click the Td+ tab (guest login), then the Print tab, and choose the Team Matrix report - do it regularly! It is especially important to do this before using Time Travel above
