Goalie, Team Points
How to draft entire teams: You can choose an entire team just as you choose any other player - teams are listed by their city name, so for example to choose Calgary Flames, look under "C" or type "CAL" as the player name.
How to assign points for teams/goalies: Click your Reconfigure button, and in the Team or Goalie line, enter the points you want assigned. Once you do this, you will see "G" and "T" position columns appear in your administrator screen.
Using nhl scoring: If you want your goalie/team scoring to match up with nhl published statistics (highly recommended) then enter Win=2, Loss=0, OTL=1 (OTL = Overtime Loss). This way your poolies will be able to match their scores with published nhl statistics - however, you can go beyond nhl scoring if you wish, assigning points for shutouts, overtime, etc. Click here for important information on how the nhl tracks and publishes losses and overtime losses for goalies and teams
Shootout Wins / Losses: Shootout wins and losses are simply overtime wins, and overtime losses - there is no distinction between a shootout win/loss and an overtime win/loss.
Ties / Overtime Losses: There is no such thing as a tie in the nhl - if teams are tied at the end of regulation time overtime is played until there is either a winning overtime goal or a winning shootout goal - so ultimately the winning team gets a win, the losing team gets an overtime loss - so whatever points you want for a tie, just assign them to overtime loss. Standard nhl scoring is Win=2, Loss=0, OTL=1 - OTL takes the place of what used to be a tie. Overtime / Bonus points: Overtime points are generally considered bonus points - so if a team achieves an overtime win, they get the points you assign for win plus the points you assign for overtime win. Similarly for shutouts, if a team wins with a shutout, they get points for the win and the shutout. If they get an overtime win and shutout, they get points for the win, the overtime win, and the shutout. However loss and overtime loss are an exception to this rule, it is never the case that both a loss and an overtime loss are awarded to the losing team - click here for some advanced examples and an explanation of this exception).
