Rookies, Enforcers, Custom Positions

What is a Custom Position? In the administrator login, players belong to one of 4 standard positions - forward, defense, goalie, team - but in order to provide your pool with maximum flexibility, you can use up to 7 additional positions in your pool - these are known as Custom Positions.

How to assign Custom Positions: Click the Reconfigure button and assign at least one point value to any of the custom position lines (enforcer, rookie, c1-c5). Once you do that, a column for each custom position you assigned points for will appear in your administrator screen - just click the column value to assign custom positions. If you use c1-c5, be sure to provide a short but meaningful abbreviation such as lw, rw, ctr (left wing, right wing, center).

Why use Custom Positions? Custom positions are most often used in pools that wish to maintain a Team Profile (a realistic balance of players that reflects the true composition of an nhl team) - for example, in a pool with a team size of 10, each team might be required to choose 6 fwd, 2 def, 1 enforcer, 1 rookie. More sophisticated pools may have team sizes as large as 20 and require a certain number of forwards, centers, left wings, right wings, goalies, and enforcers.

Advanced Options: If your pool uses the Drop Lowest feature (drops the lowest scorers on each team) yet you still want to maintain a Team Profile you can use custom positions in conjunction with the Keep at Least feature to insure your team profile is maintained.
